Rotelec was founded in 1977, but its roots go back to the early development of electromagnetic stirring in the French steel industry during the 1970s.
The first industrial EMS applications on continuous casters showed that electromagnetic control could directly influence solidification and product quality. This early phase opened the way to mould stirring for billet and bloom casting, the technology that led to the creation of Rotelec.
From the beginning, the company grew around a precise industrial focus: translating metallurgical know-how, process understanding and electrical engineering into tailor-made systems for steel plants. That focus first developed in EMS for billets and blooms, then expanded into slab casting applications and later into induction heating for hot strip mills.
Over time, Rotelec evolved from a specialized pioneer into a process-technology company serving continuous casting and rolling operations with solutions designed around quality, productivity and control.
Since 1991, within the Danieli Group, Rotelec has continued that path through new developments in electromagnetic stirring, braking and induction heating.
The result is a history of technical continuity: new solutions built on deep understanding of how steel behaves in real industrial conditions.
The story is still moving forward, but its logic remains unchanged: understand the process, identify the critical point, and develop the technology that can act where it matters most.
