In hot strip mills, the temperature of the transfer bar does not remain uniform on its way to the finishing mill. Some zones lose heat faster than others, and this thermal imbalance leads to less stable rolling behavior, less uniform properties and a higher risk of defects. The induction heating solutions developed by Rotelec are designed to correct exactly this problem by bringing the material back to better thermal conditions before finishing. 

Induction does not add heat in a generic way. It generates eddy currents directly inside the steel and transfers energy where it is actually needed, rapidly, selectively and in a controlled way. Within this family, Edge Heating (EH) is designed to compensate for the natural cooling of transfer-bar edges, a critical zone for quality, trimming and rolling regularity. Transverse Flux Heating (TFH), by contrast, addresses a broader need for thermal uniformity by generating heat directly inside the bar cross section to improve material behavior across both width and length. 

The two technologies share the same process logic, but not the same specific objective. EH is a focused correction at the edges. TFH is a wider induction-heating solution aimed at thermal uniformity and rolling efficiency before finishing. In both cases, the value lies not in heating more steel, but in heating it more precisely.
